Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - 9 June 2024
Mid-morning flight from London Heathrow to Istanbul (IST) that arrives around 1630 local time, the group then meets anyone who has travelled independently and make their way to Canakkale via coach.

The road has significantly improved in recent years and the new airport location avoids Istanbul’s notorious traffic; we also cross the impressive modern bridge that spans the Dardanelles, transfer time approximately 4 hours.

A welcome drink and useful map pack greet us on our arrival. 
Day 2 - 10 June 2024 
Helles Day – We begin today with a study of the British landings around Helles, after a visit to Lancashire Landing and the Helles Memorial, we stroll onto V Beach, scene of the River Clyde Landing before including a visit to the isolated grave of Lt Col Doughty Wylie VC, a club member who fell in the assault on the old castle at Sedd el Bair on the 26 April 1915

After lunch in a Krithia café, we visit Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery and the old front-line trenches to the east of Gully Ravine, concluding with the story of Lt Col Archibald Koe of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers, a club member who landed at Y Beach and the lost opportunity.

Day 3 - 11 June 2024
Anzac Day – Today we start our tour of the Anzac sector in the best possible way, from the sea, our boat will allow us to study the coastline and complex terrain facing the troops that landed here on the opening day.

After landing we visit Beach Cemetery, before taking lunch in a nearby roadside taverna. We then drive to Lone Pine, Anzac Ridge the Nek and finally Chanuk Bair assaulted by New Zealand and Indian troops on the 7 August 1915. 

We finish the day with a visit to a visit to the Etruscan Winery in Eceabat www.etruscan.com.tr
Day 4 - 12 June 2024 
Suvla Bay Day – We visit the isolated and remote Suvla Bay to look at the landings of August 1915, with visits to Hill 10, the Salt Lake, Green Hill and Azmak we will study the landings and the story of the disappearing 5/Norfolk’s, commanded by Sir Horace Proctor Beachamp a club member.
We end the day with a special visit to the Consular Cemetery in the company of the local head of the CWGC Burak Gundogan to hear of the submariner’s war.  

We cross back to Canakkale and transfer to Hotel Troya Tuscan, our boutique hotel for the next two nights, with wine and local canopies of arrival. Evening meal atthe hotel included.  
Day 5 - 13 June 2024 
Suvla Bay Day – We visit the isolated and remote Suvla Bay to study the landings of August 1915, with visits to Hill 10, the Salt Lake, Green Hill and Azmak including the story of the disappearing 5/Norfolk’s, commanded by Sir Horace Proctor Beachamp, a club member.

Day 6 - 14 June 2024
Transfer by coach to Istanbul for any city extension or flights back to the UK
