What a wonderful weekend, everything was superb and the whole trip was amazing. The schedule and programme including the visits to Cambrai, Courcelette,  Lebucquiere Memorial, Theipval Newfoundland Park and Bucquoy  was superb and the hospitality and catering just perfect. You are an amazing and patient guide and leader. Your detailed explanations at each site we visited so very helpful. Finally thanks to Angela for her cheerful patience and organisation in the office.

CASE STUDIES

1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment

Lt. Peters contacted us regarding a unit battlefield study they were contemplating to Italy. There were strict parameters to be achieved with the heart of the trip being a detailed study of light role infantry operations at the battalion level combined with an appreciation of the overall operational situation and lessons learned. The trip was for 25 Officers and Senior NCO’s from the Battalion combining into syndicate study groups.

The MOD insisted the unit obtained tenders for the trip and Battle Honours came through as chosen supplier. Key to our bid was originality, flexibility and focus on what the client wanted to achieve. We did not simply offer an “off the peg” standard tour, we built the tour around the Battalions needs, in terms of timings, routes, content and budgets.

Battle Honours also led a vital Recce to the Monte Cassino area for a unit representative to see the ground, discuss locations for stands and associated logistics. This was also followed up with a day together at the National Archives (Kew) in order to study War Diaries relevant to the study and help complete a comprehensive ** page study booklet, a copy of which is help at Army archives.

The resulting study tour, was a resounding success, and the post tour report filed on the British Army intranet has attracted much interest from other units looking to achieve similar results and push the boundaries of what to expect from battlefield studies.

If I were planning a similar staff ride in the future Battle Honours would be my first port of call

Guernsey History Society

Battle honours were approached by the Guernsey History Society to provide a bespoke trip to the Great War battlefields of the Western Front. The group leader outlined the trip must focus on the movements and actions undertaken by the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry. There was initially uncertainty on group size, other content and duration. However after preliminary work and proposals by Battle Honours the group size was settled at 14 and an itinerary focusing on the RGLI set against the context of the bigger picture was agreed.  Guide Rory Stephens lead the tour to Cambrai and the Somme and the trip went extremely well and Rory was actually invited back to Guernsey!

Rory was a great ambassador for your company & it was a pleasure to obtain a personalised tour which exceeded all our expectations. I would recommend Battle Honours to anyone and everyone who wishes to learn more about this fascinating period of world history”
