2023 was a very successful year for Battle Honours and a vital full year of trading and tours has put a spring in our step, and we hope you feel the same about the upcoming battlefield tour opportunities. Most of the forthcoming seasons tours are now on the website and bookings are open.
We have two superb new World War Two tours being launched this year that will for certain, be breaking new ground.
Beyond the beaches of Normandy will expand your knowledge of this crucial 1944 campaign as Professor Gary Sheffield and Julian Whippy lead you through the bocage and on to Falaise. In this the 80th year since the D-Day landings we feel it is important to look at the wider campaign including the American efforts to the West of Caen, so for a really in depth look at Normandy beyond the beaches please join us on this June tour.
Our second WW2 offering, Walking with the Jocks is featured below. This tour will study the British Army in 1945 on its final advance to victory, with a unique approach, as we see it through the eyes of, predominantly, one unit, the 4/ Kings Own Scottish Borderers, and a very young Lieutenant Peter White. Despite what may appear a “macro approach” this method, with frequent stops for wider context is thoroughly absorbing and provides a superb, intimate experience of life, and death, for Tommy Atkins as the War came to an end.
Alongside regular winners like Gallipoli this year we have some new Great War tours to tempt you. For instance how does combining a study of the Tardenois battlefields of 1914 and 1918 and Champagne tasting sound? Or maybe you are looking for one more battlefield to visit away from the Western Front for a change – Our Salonika tour provides a similar experience to that of Gallipoli, slightly exotic, off the beaten track and definitely for the adventurous looking for a history less covered.
Anyone with an eye on the planned Jordan tour for spring 2025 will be aware of the impact the Gaza / Israel war is having on the region and so we have decided to push that back to at least late 2025.
Lastly, we have refreshed our web presence by investing in a new website that will go live later this month. It has a a host of new tweaks yet still retains the familiar layout familiar to you.
